History

     Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Calicut was established in 1992 under the Indian Institute of Spices Research at Peruvannamuzhi,60 km away from the district headquarters. During the initial stages, the Kendra functioned and the farmers hostel were inaugurated on 7th December, 1998 by Padmabhushan Dr.R.S.Paroda, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR. The hostel can accommodate 20 farmers at a time. KVK is located about 60 km North East of the district headquarters at Peruvannamuzhi on the side of Perambra-Chembanoda road hardly 1 km away from Peruvannamuzhi dam. By boarding buses plying between Kozhikode and Poozhithode, one can reach KVK. In addition, frequent bus services are available fromPerambra to Peruvannamuzhi dam.
